Through All the Ages On
Hymn 1: When Morning Gilds The Skies
After a few months navigating Substack, I think it’s time that I undo the Monday Undoing. Or perhaps it’s better to say that I am going to expand it. I still plan to keep it short, sweet and to the point. But I want to incorporate more poetry or other art forms (digital or otherwise)—more than anything—I just want the freedom to be spontaneous about the topic or format for Mondays.
So this week, I’m doing something brave.
I’m sharing another piece of Erasure Poetry (a form of poetry created by taking an existing text and erasing, blacking out, or obscuring portions of the original words to reveal a completely new poem from what remains).
I decided that I wanted to challenge myself to use this hymnal to do Erasure Poetry. I would do a quick glance and decide which side of the page I want to use. And then I am planning to keep working my way through the hymnal. One page at a time. I think it’ll be a fun project, and also challenge me to keep doing new things.
So, without further ado, here is my finished project:
Through All the Ages On
My heart cries sleep her balm life is mine

Let me know your thoughts!
