Halfway through this fast, and I'll be honest: the silence is deafening. I’m learning that my body is still attuned to chaos, and surrender feels like a battle. Here is a field note on the 'Weight of Stillness' and the struggle to finally let my hands hang limp.
I read this book recently called The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer and it was phenomenal. I highly recommend it for your journey. I think you'd find the insight to be helpful.
My thoughts are creating stillness is a resistance to the machine. It's not only hard because you're attuned to chaos, its also hard because the world runs against stillness. Everything in the environment is literally working against the goal. You're a pioneer, a leader.
Thank you so much for your words and encouagement. A few years ago a good friend of mine read that book and had nothing but incredible things to say about it. I suppose I should get it and then write through the journey!! ;)
I have to remind myself that 40+ years of chaotic frenzied living will not come undone overnight. I may spend the rest of the time God gives me learning the art of undoing all the chaos and learning to be still. That’s the heart of my writing here and so as long as he gives me breath, I’m on the journey!! Thanks for commenting. I’m sorry you relate, but it’s hard not too in this fast-paced world isn’t it.
Jamie, it can be a struggle to remove chaos as we are alone with our Savior. It is hard to keep thoughts at bay. I used to say breathe in the Holy Spirit and out with His love. Just to keep miscellaneous thoughts at bay.
Thanks Cindy! It’s funny that you mention breathing in and out - as I just finished writing about this very thing for an upcoming post in a couple months. It’s a practice I plan to start now, even though I’m not introducing it to you until April. It’s not a secret though so if you want, we can talk about it next time I see you. Love you!

Oh, it will not disappoint
It'll be here tomorrow.
"silence feels deafening to a body attuned to chaos."
I can relate to this. Our bodies get so addicted to chaos after a while and it can take some time to settle into that stillness.
Thank you for sharing so honestly.

"so as long as he gives me breath, I’m on the journey!"
Amen to this! ❤️ And yes, it takes a lot of intentionality to slow down and be still in this world.
